In the past two weeks, the camp for Burundian refugees in Kirehe district near the Rwanda-Tanzania border has recorded 14 new cases of the COVID-19.
The camp is home to more than 60,000 refugees who have been there since 2015.
Information from Mahama camp officials shows since the pandemic started in Rwanda in mid March, more than 80 cases have been identified in the camp.
Since late September, the refugees have been returning home. While there are tough measures in Rwanda, and border is closed, in Burundi the situation is the complete opposite.
No masks are worn in Burundi and all activities are going without any controls. However, government there says the virus is under control.
For Rwanda, total infections have reached 5,084 with new 11 cases recorded on Tuesday. However, 95% have recovered.
More than 550,000 Rwandans, or 1.6% of the population have been tested.
So far, 35 people have died from the virus
