Maï-Maï Mazembe Militia Clash With FARDC

The Congolese military on Sunday destroyed bases of Maï-Maï Mazembe militia in Kanzanza on the west coast of Lake Edward in Lubero territory of North Kivu.

This new FARDC attack against the late Kitete’s Mai-Mai Mazembe was launched early this Sunday morning in Kanzana.

According to Richard Nyembo wa Nyembo the territory administrator, all the militia occupying this area of ​​the west coast of Lake Edward are routed by the FARDC and their self-proclaimed leader, Shetani, is on the run.

“One Maï-Maï fighter was killed and two others captured. The camps of these militiamen were also destroyed,” Nyembo wa Nyembo said on Sunday, calling on the inhabitants to return to their villages because the area is already under control of National army.

The president of the new civil society of Lubero, Bayireke Kisusu, deplores this massive displacement of the population. He calls on the authorities to permanently eradicate the rebel activities that have caused large suffering of the population of the region.

Meanwhile, the commander of operations Sokola 1 Axis Sud confirmed the attack and promised to give the results later. The operations against the Maï-Maï in this part of Lubero territory were launched since last Friday.
