Tanzania’ Opposition go for plan “B” after “A” failed

In the wake of losing the General elections, Tanzania’s Opposition leaders are attempting to craft new methods of operation as the government is cracking whip on opposition.

The Party for Democracy and Progress, (Chadema)known for campaigning largely on an anti-corruption platform and the Alliance for Change and Transparency–Wazalendo (ACT–Wazalendo)  have apparently started holding indoor meetings to ponder upon new methodologies of conducting politics.

Tanzanian press detailed Friday that the gatherings between opposition figures in the nation comes in the wake of crackdown on the opposition by government, including capturing of their leaders and individuals demonstrating against the establishment.

Freeman Mbowe Chadema chairman and Zitto Kabwe ACT-Wazalendo party leader on Saturday held a joint press conference to call for demonstrations against Tanzania’ newly elected President Magufuli who won the vote by 84.4 percent.

“Indoor gatherings are in progress to think of new techniques for settling the current political situation. But our goal for endless peaceful protests still stands, ,” Mr Kabwe said.

On Thursday, Mbowe and Kabwe called to Oyster Bay Police Station to record statements about their gatherings.
