Armed Men kidnap Cardinal Tumi of Cameroon

Cardinal Christian Wiyghan Tumi the Archbishop Emeritus of Douala, has been released by armed men that had supposedly kidnapped him on Thursday.

During his kidnap, Cardinal Tumi was in the company of the paramount leader of Nso. The customary ruler was returning to his conventional castle after months of self exile due to armed conflict between government troops and secessionists.

Nonconformist fighters had mounted a detour when they stopped the convoy then swiftly abducted the Cardinal and took him to an unknown location.

Cardinal Tumi, 90, has been vocal in calling for peace in the midst of the four-year-long clash between the North West and South West areas of Cameroon.

Later on Thursday night, Archbishop Kleda of Cameroon received a call from the Cardinal who told him that he had been captured and interrogated by armed men. The Archbishops subsequent attempts to reach the Cardinal by phone on Friday morning were futile.Notwithstanding, the Cardinal was delivered later in the day on Friday.
