KLM Claims There Is Civil Unrest In Tanzania & Kenya

The United People’s Republic of Tanzania has said there is no civil unrest in the East African coastal nation.

“The Government of Tanzania has noted with great concern the false claims spread by some foreign Institutions and companies that there is civil unrest in Tanzania,” reads in part a statement issued by the Information Ministry.

“We wish to assure all embassies, International organisations, companies, institutions, foreigners and the general public that the Tanzania territory is safe and there is no civil unrest or terrorist attacks,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands issued a note via its social media platforms that there was civil unrest in Kenya.

KLM in a twist now says it sent the claim on civil unrest in Kenya erroneously and pointed out that it was meant for customers in Tanzania.

“The said alert which was meant for our customers in Tanzania was inadvertently and erroneously also shared with our customers in Kenya. We made a mistake in our rebook policy and initially included Kenya. This is incorrect and we would like to apologize for this,” the airline pointed out.

Kenya’s Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen protested the allegations by the airline described as pure blackmail.

“We are therefore shocked that the airline would spread such fabricated, malicious and false allegations without fact-checking and considering the probable effects to our country’s image and economy,” Murkomen said.

Faced with pressure the post has been withdrawn from the Dutch airline social media pages.
